What is a licensed Midwife?

We are midwives educated and trained by a stringent program regulated by the state of FL. We are the sole provider during the perinatal period. We practice in the context of F.L. Statute 467, and the board of Midwifery.

Would I be a good candidate for home birth?

Over 80% of pregnancies are normal.

We use a risk screening score and continued evaluation during care to identify risks. If a risk factor is identified, we refer to an OBGYN for collaborative care, or transfer.

Do you accept insurance?

We are considered out of network with insurance companies. We offer payment plans that works for you and your family. We do work with a third party biller that can can file a claim for reimbursement with your insurance.

What happens to baby after birth?

We provide gentle Immediate newborn care and assessment after the birth through out the postpartum period.

Our families also begin care with a pediatrician within 48 hours of birth.

How often are prenatal appointments?

We follow standard of care prenatal schedule, seeing our families every four weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36, then weekly until delivery.

What if there is an emergency?

We are trained in obstetrical emergencies, carry medication and equipment to resolve emergencies at home. In the rare event of high level intervention, we transfer to the nearest hospital and continue our journey with families. Our job is to keep mom and baby safe, if that requires a change in provider, we get mom and baby to the provider that will meet their needs.
